Guernsey Gruffalos to take part in Moonwalk

Jayne Wallbridge, a member of the Pink Ladies and 5 other brave colleagues and friends, Christine Dorey, Liz Dorsch, Emma Duff, Jo White & Jackie Yeates will be taking part in the 2011 Moonwalk on 14th May 2011. Please click here for further information and a link to their fundraising page.

Jayne says their training is well under way and they have so far raised 1,500.  They have set a target of 2,620 (100 per mile).  The theme for this year is "a walk on the wild side" and they are entering as the Guernsey Gruffalos and their bras will be decorated in the style of the famous children's book character.

For those who do not know, the Moonwalk is the flagship event of Walk the Walk Worldwide, a grant making charity which looks at various projects and campaigns involved with breast cancer.  Funds are granted to where the charity feels it will make the most difference.  It supports research into preventing the disease as well as causes that support people who have the disease now.

The moonwalk is a powerwalking marathon (26.2 miles) that takes place at midnight in London and everyone taking part wears a decorated bra.  Several of Jayne's team have taken part in the Pink Ladies Sunset Walk and this inspired them to take part in the extra challenge which is the moonwalk.

As part of its "matched giving" programme Jayne's, Deutsche Bank, will match every donation received from other DB employees up to a total of 3,000.  Last year this amounted to 1,400 which meant in total she raised 3,600.
