Lt-Governors wife is walking in pink

LYNDA WALKER, wife of the Lt-Governor, has announced that she will take part in the Pink Ladies Sunset Coastal Walk on Saturday.

More than 1,000 mums, daughters and grandmothers are expected to turn out for the event, which will raise money for a new breast clinic at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

Mrs Walker, who moved to the island in April with husband Air Marshal Peter Walker, recently met the organisers and said they were to be congratulated for their work preparing for the walk and their efforts to promote breast cancer awareness.

All funds raised during the walk will contribute directly to the facilities needed to assist the recovery of those who suffer from this vicious cancer and to providing support for their families, she said.

This year, the Pink Ladies support group celebrates its 10th anniversary.
This milestone deserves all our recognition and support, said Mrs Walker.
I look forward to participating in the Sunset Walk and have my pink outfit and walking boots all ready.

To mark the anniversary, one team of 10 entering will be in with the chance of winning afternoon tea at the OGH.

The entry deadline has been extended due to popular demand and women who have not yet signed up for the walk are being encouraged to do so.

The Guernsey Press is again media partner for the biennial walk, which this year has Sandpiper CI as its main sponsor.

Guernsey Electricity has also recently offered to sponsor lighting for the event.
