JOIN THE Pink Ladies Sunset Walk

I WOULD like to give a big round of a-paws to all readers and their families who are planning to walk around the coast at the weekend and raise money for the Pink Ladies.

It’s a girls-only event, so as a little boy bear I shall be cheering from the sidelines.

In the meantime I headed up to St Andrew’s Primary School to speak to head teacher Linda Paley.

Healthy living and supporting local charities feature in the school curriculum and to celebrate the Pink Ladies’ 10th anniversary she decided to get a team of 10 girls to take part in the walk.

In fact they have done even better than that, and a team of girls (along with an adult) will gather at Bordeaux on Saturday to take part in the 3.5-mile route.
Nine-year-old Jasmine Shepherd will be taking part in the walk for the first time, along with her best friend Victoria Reeves, 10, and she told me that she is really looking forward to it.

Victoria is equally enthusiastic, telling me that she had never supported a charity before but that this was really important.

Calling all Little Pink Princesses: Dust off your tiaras, throw a feather boa around your neck, raid your wardrobe, think pink and put the fun into fund-raising by joining the Pink Ladies’ Sunset Walk.

Put your best foot forward with your gran, mum, aunty, sister or even teacher in this girls-only event.

The 10.5 mile walk starts at 6pm at Grandes Rocques but if this is a step or two too far then the shorter 3.5-mile walk starts at Bordeaux at 8pm. All walkers then gather at Market Square for a celebratory party.

Interested? Take a look at or for more.

There will be two spot prizes on the night for Little Pink Princesses (aged up to 12 years). None other than Miss Guernsey will select one lucky little lady from each of the starting locations.
