Pink Ladies cocktail will toast coastal walk success

THOSE who complete the Pink Ladies Sunset Coastal Walk will be able to toast their achievement in style. Randalls has teamed up with the Prince of Wales pub to create a special pink cocktail.

Licensee Shannon Marion remained tight-lipped about its ingredients but did say it would include a wild-strawberry liqueur and watermelon liqueur.  'It's a nice refreshing drink at the end of the walk, it will be pleasant and fruity.'

The pub is also going to provide food, such as home-made burgers and sausages and a selection of drinks at the end of the walk at Market Square. A percentage of the special food and drinks sales will go to the Pink Ladies local breast cancer charity.

The two businesses decided to help out after being approached by the support group, who are keen to get as many people walking this year as last time.

The event takes place on Saturday 18 June and women and girls across the island are being asked to dress in pink and take part.

When launched in 2007 it attracted around 2,000 participants of all ages and raised more than 100,000 for local breast cancer support.

Since then it has gone from strength to strength, providing funds to help the support group which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, pay for locally-available treatment for lymphoedema, a side-effect of treatment for the disease.

The Guernsey Press is again media partner for the event, which this year has Sandpiper CI as its main sponsor.

The fun occasion attracts women of every generation including mums, daughters and grandmothers, although all children must be accompanied by an adult.

There is a choice of two coastal routes to suit all walkers, both meeting up en route and finishing in Town at the same time.

The first starts at 6pm at Grandes Rocques and is 10.5 miles-long. The shorter is around 3.5 miles and starts at Bordeaux at 8pm.

Walkers then gather for a party and prize-giving in Town Square, featuring Abba tribute band Sensation. Teams of 10 are also being asked to take part this year to help mark the charitys 10-year milestone.

Entry forms are available from Guernsey Press reception and are downloadable from our website at, Curves Fitness Studio, the Breast Cancer Unit and the Bulstrode Oncology Unit, PEH, Pasty Presto, Costa Coffee, Wine Warehouse, Hotel Chocolat, Iceland and Checkers Express foodhalls.
