50,000 pounds and rising after Pink Ladies sunset walk success

ONE Pink Ladies sunset walker will soon be stepping out in style. Sue Brehaut, 55, an employee at Schroders Private Bank, was the lucky winner of a pair of new trainers from Intersport.

Miss Brehaut took part in the Pink Ladies Sunset Coastal Walk with a team of 15 from her work and completed the 10.5-mile coastal hike in three and a half hours, arriving in Town at 9.30pm.

‘It was a wonderful sight when we walked around Grand Havre, there was a mass of pink following on behind. There was a great atmosphere,’ she said.
Over 2,000 women set off from Grandes Rocques at 6pm on Saturday to take part in the walk. There was also the option to join at Bordeaux for a shorter route, 3.5 miles, ending with a party in Market Square.

Sponsorship money is still being counted, but so far £50,000 has been raised from the walk.

The first walk, in 2007, raised more than  £100,000 and organisers are hopeful they can match that.

All money raised will stay in the island and go to both the Pink Ladies and Les Bourgs Hospice.

Miss Brehaut had a knee replacement in January and taking part was one of her main aims.

‘I was really pleased I was able to do it,’ she said, adding that the stretch along Bulwer Avenue was the toughest, when the finishing line was in sight.
Miss Brehaut said the walk was something all women could relate to – and was especially important for the Schroders team, as a member of the Pink Ladies works at the firm.
