Golfers in the pink for charity

A PINK-themed golf tournament has raised £1,500 for a local breast cancer support group. A sea of pink washed over L’Ancresse Common as more than 420 golfers battled it out in the Swoffers L’Ancresse Golf Open – the largest golf tournament in the Channel Islands. With all the charity proceeds from the two-day event going to the Pink Ladies, everybody was suitably dressed.

The competition teed off with the men’s team event, which was won by Murray Gilson, Richard Herpe, James Gavey and Ross Yates.

The action continued into the second day with the amateur individual event won by Ross Wheeler, who carded a net 66 to win by three shots.

Dave Warr managed a hole in one at the third and Andy Eggo won the scratch salver with a 70. Rather than buying drinks all round at the end of the event, both Mr Warr and Mr Wheeler made donations to the charity.
