19/10/2012

COLOURFUL cakes and fashionable clothing were on sale at Guernsey Press headquarters yesterday as part of the companys annual Pink Ladies fundraiser.

Advertisement advisor and cake sale organiser Sara King said early counts showed the drive had raised more than 500 for the breast cancer charity.
Were really pleased with how well it has gone weve sold out, she said.

Betty Sebire, 82, bought a selection of cupcakes and two boxes of mushrooms.
I think the cakes are lovely theyre all so colourful and you can tell a lot of work has gone into them, she said. Its all for a good cause too.

Pink Ladies member Jude Harris gave up her time to man the stall.
The cakes all look fabulous, she said. Any money raised will benefit all women in the island not just the ones that have been affected by cancer.

October is Breast Awareness Month and Health and Social Services Health Promotion Unit has called on beauty therapists to promote awareness by offering tailored training sessions to
salons.

If you would like more information about breast or skin cancer or would like to book a training session, please contact Di Mathews on 707311 or e-mail dmathews@hssd.gov.gg.
