GIRLS’ NIGHT IN PROVES A SELL-OUT

A recent girls’ night in at Curves gym helped to raise more than £600 for the Pink Ladies as part of October’s breast cancer awareness month.

The evening was a sell-out and the women attending were greeted with pink bubbly and had a choice of three different types of massages to try, as well as getting their nails and make-up done.

Organiser Becky Du Port was delighted with the turnout.
‘I am really happy with everything. Tonight has gone really well and it’s good to know we have helped the Pink Ladies,’ said the 21-year-old.
‘We wanted to get our members involved because it was breast cancer awareness month so we thought, every woman loves a girls’ night in, so why not? ‘This has been my first proper event I have organised since joining Curves three months ago so I am thrilled as everyone seems to be having a good time.’

Live demonstrations of permanent make-up proved popular on the night, as well as bra fittings and manicures. Everyone was also entered into a raffle, which included prizes of jewellery, beauty treatments and a free month’s membership at the gym. ‘I’ve had a foot massage and had my make-up done. I think it is a lovely evening and I hope they do another,’ said Jackie Guilbert, 53, a post office employee. Colleague Glynis James, 60, said: ‘It’s really good because you can meet lots of people as everyone goes to the gym at different times, so you don’t always get to see everyone who comes.’

Curves staff also decided to donate the wages they would have earned that night to the charity.
