The skys the Limits

01/07/2009

WELL-KNOWN local popsters City Limits are teaming up with the orchestra Highly Strung and Hornified to support the local branches of Mind and the Pink Ladies. And the event neatly coincides with the bandís 21st anniversary celebrations.

The gig will be at Beau Sejour’s Dave Ferguson Hall, where the band and orchestra will perform two sets, mixing up ballads and soulful covers along with belting out their more upbeat numbers.

Nick Peters from the orchestra explained that the rehearsals with the 16-piece string orchestra and 10-piece horn section are quite intensive.
‘We have several members of the orchestra who now live in the UK, so we have to fit the rehearsals around them.’

It is the fourth time the orchestra and band have combined to perform and the third time at Beau Sejour.

Funds raised will go towards furnishing the complementary therapy room in the new oncology unit at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital, which will be of benefit to all cancer patients, helping them during treatment.

Go along to dance, join the band in celebrating its 21st anniversary and help a couple of great causes – three great excuses for a fabulous night out.

City Limits Highly Strung and Hornified play on Saturday 18 July at Beau Sejour. Tickets are priced at £16.50 (full tables of 11 are priced at £165 – one free seat) and are available by calling 07781 190493.
